Farurile bi-xenon asigură o iluminare superioară în vederea îmbunătăţirii semnificative a vizibilităţii pe timp de noapte, iluminând, de asemenea, într-un mod mai clar şi pe o zonă mai mare marginile carosabilului.
In low-beam mode, bi-xenon headlamps illuminate the edges of the carriageway more clearly and over a wider area, while in high-beam mode they offer a substantially larger range. In comparison to conventional H7 bulbs, bi-xenon headlamps offer up to 87% more luminous power in low-beam mode, rising to as much as 180% more in high-beam mode. This enhances vision and visibility and provides for substantially safer night-time driving. In addition, the cornering light function activates the fog light on the side facing the bend when negotiating tight bends at a speed of up to 40 km/h, providing for substantially improved illumination of the carriageway. "Bi-xenon" means that low and high beam share a common light source. In high-beam mode, the entire light flux boosted by a halogen spotlight is available to provide visibility over a greater distance in front of the vehicle and for the purposes of the headlamp flasher function. In low-beam mode – here the high beam is partially covered by a shade – the bi-xenon headlamps provide illumination over a substantially wider area than conventional dipped halogen headlamps, enabling objects at the edge of the carriageway to be recognised earlier. Dynamic sensor-controlled range adjustment automatically compensates changes to the vehicle's position during braking and acceleration or as a result of loads. The high-luminosity bi-xenon gas-discharge lamps largely avoid dazzling oncoming traffic.
