Sensors inside the tyres monitor air pressure and air temperature and output corresponding messages in case of a decrease in pressure in one or more tyres; the pressures can optionally be shown on the display.

The tyre pressure monitoring system serves to warn the driver of falling pressure in one or more tyres while the vehicle is on the road. If desired, the pressure in each tyre can be shown on the multifunction display.

Correctly inflated tyres have a longer useful life and contribute above all to active driving safety. The tyre pressure monitoring system can help to detect diminishing pressure in one or several tyres while on the road, thus avoiding possible serious consequences. To this end, a sensor inside the tyre measures the air pressure and air temperature. These data are sent at regular intervals by wireless transmission to a receiving antenna on the underbody and relayed to the control unit. If desired, the tyre pressures can be shown on the multifunction display.

Every tyre gradually loses air over a period of months as a result of diffusion. The tyre pressure monitoring system prompts the driver to correct the tyre pressures in good time by means of a corresponding message. In case of a marked pressure drop while on the road, a yellow warning lamp will light up and a warning will appear on the display to enable you to take appropriate action.
