NECK-PRO head restraints

In a rear-end collision, the NECK-PRO head restraints actively slide forward and upward to provide the front passengers' heads with timely support and reduce the risk of whiplash injury.

The crash-responsive NECK-PRO head restraints in Mercedes-Benz passenger cars make an important contribution to occupant safety in the event of a rear-end collision.

The NECK-PRO head restraints from Mercedes-Benz offer improved occupant protection in a rear-end collision and help to reduce the risk of whiplash. The crash-responsive head restraints for driver and front passenger are standard items in many Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.

The NECK-PRO head restraints are connected to an electronic control unit. When the sensor system identifies a rear-end collision of defined impact severity, it enables springs inside the head restraints which serve to move the head restraints forward by around 40 millimetres and upward by 30 millimetres, so as to afford timely protection for the front passengers' heads. After they have been activated, the NECK-PRO head restraints can be unlocked with a tool which is provided and slid back manually into their original position. They are then ready for use again immediately. The optionally available NECK-PRO luxury head restraints with two additional flexible and individually adjustable side bolsters offer good lateral support for further enhanced comfort.
