The curve illumination function follows the wheels' steering movements, showing up pedestrians, cyclists and animals much earlier in the dark, particularly on winding stretches of road.

As part of the optional Intelligent Light Systems, curve illumination makes night-time driving on winding roads even safer by increasing illumination of the carriageway by up to 90%. Now you can recognise pedestrians, cyclists and animals much earlier at night. When entering a bend with a radius of 190 m based on the centre line in the road, the illuminated range with conventional lighting stands at 30 m. With curve illumination, which follows the wheels' steering movements, this range is increased to 55 m. The bi-xenon headlamps with dynamic range adjustment and headlamp cleaning system are controlled by a microcomputer on the basis of current information from the steering-angle and speed sensor.
