Hill Start Assist
The automatic Hill Start Assist system prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when moving off on an uphill slope. It aids the driver and can help prevent accidents caused by rolling backwards.
Hill Start Assist is another standard feature added to the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) by the engineers at Mercedes. When the driver's foot moves from the brake to the accelerator pedal while moving off on an uphill slope, ESP® maintains the brake pressure briefly to hold the vehicle and allow the driver to pull away smoothly. Hill Start Assist is part of the ADAPTIVE BRAKE system which helps the driver in certain situations by automatically providing braking support.
