BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist can help you not only to avoid rear-end collisions, but also collisions with crossing traffic at junctions.


If the anticipatory system detects a hazardous situation, you are prompted to apply the brakes immediately. If you then apply the brakes too tentatively, the brake pressure is automatically increased – if necessary up to full brake application.

It is precisely in city traffic and at junctions in particular that you can expect other road users coming from either the left or right to suddenly move into your traffic lane.

 

BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist is able to detect an imminent collision with crossing traffic and warn you before it is too late. This is based on data supplied by the stereo camera and radar sensors which monitor the traffic conditions.

 

Visual and audible warnings prompt you to adopt emergency braking measures. As part of this you are actively supported by BAS PLUS. The system automatically makes the optimum brake force available which you are likely to need for effective emergency braking. It is able to boost the brake pressure right up to full brake application if necessary.

 

BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist is active at speeds of up to 72 km/h and can significantly reduce the likelihood of an accident at junctions. If a collision should ever occur, however, for the most part the accident does tend to be less severe.
